Last week our vice president and two of our sales executives flew to Tucson, Arizona, to take part in the 2014 Home Depot Foundation Community Building Invitational, September 30 through October 1, hosted by The Home Depot Building Services and Operations. The Foundation was established five years ago with a mission to improve the homes of military veterans and the communities in which they live. This is accomplished with the help of volunteers including suppliers and partners of The Home Depot. As a long-time service provider for The Home Depot, Rose Paving was grateful for an invitation and gladly signed on to sponsor and participate in this worthy cause.
When asked about his decision to participate, our vice president Chris Tanner remarked, “I am very thankful for the business relationship we have with The Home Depot and wholeheartedly support their Foundation and its positive impact on our nation’s veterans.”
Thus far, in 2014, the Foundation has completed over 1,000 projects across the country ranging from repairs and modifications to homes, planting community gardens, painting area schools, and otherwise making improvements to veteran housing and neighboring facilities.
On Wednesday, October 1, Rose Paving and other volunteers helped in the building process of several single-family homes for Tucson-area veterans. While there, workers were able to witness the presentation of one completed home and its keys to a deserving family. It was a beautiful day to be working in the Arizona sun and enjoying the camaraderie of other vendors and suppliers. In addition to this Community Building Project, the three-day event also included a Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the Foundation.
