Welcome to our Paving with Pride series, where we shine a spotlight on the skilled professionals behind Rose Paving. These team members are the heart of our company, bringing dedication, expertise, and a relentless commitment to quality in everything they do. It’s their passion for their craft that empowers us to overcome obstacles, exceed expectations, and deliver exceptional paving solutions to every client.

Meet Angie Bargiel, Assistant Controller of Rose Paving. She is based at our corporate headquarters in Bridgeview, Illinois. Angie started her career at Rose in college in Accounts Receivable and has spent over a decade in the accounting department, gaining valuable knowledge and experience that led to her current role as Assistant Controller. Her story is a powerful testament to the impact of hard work, collaboration, and dedication in achieving success.

Tell us a little about yourself and your background.

My name is Angie, and I am a proud mom of 3 beautiful children (ages 4, 2, and 6 months) and two dogs. I enjoy going to sporting events, especially baseball and hockey games—Go White Sox and Blackhawks! Some of my favorite ways to spend time are staying active and traveling the country with my family.

How long have you been in the industry and with Rose Paving?

I have been with Rose Paving for 12 years; it has been my first job in the construction industry. I started at Rose when we were much smaller, and throughout my time here, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible people support me and teach me the ropes. I have seen tremendous growth in our company throughout my career, and I am excited to see how much we will continue to evolve in the future.

Tell us about your current role. What does a typical day look like to you?

The most interesting thing about my job is that there is not a “typical” day. I spend my days making system enhancements through Experlogix, reviewing and analyzing job cost data to improve reporting and efficiencies, reporting on financials and other operating metrics, and more!

What sets Rose Paving apart from other paving companies?

Rose Paving has set itself apart from other paving companies by being data driven. We review data and rely on that data to make future decisions. This enables us to put accountability in the right hands that will help drive Rose Paving to continue to be successful, and to serve our clients in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

What do you enjoy most about working at Rose Paving?

I enjoy working with my accounting team and other divisions across the company. I truly feel that every person has so much knowledge to share—I learn something new in every meeting.

If you could describe your job in three words, what would they be and why?

Challenging: I frequently find myself challenged to learn new skills, enhance existing processes, and discover ways to make each day better than the last.

Empowering: Rose has been instrumental in empowering me to make decisions and express my opinions, which has greatly boosted my confidence.

Multifaceted: Each day presents a fresh array of tasks that keeps me engaged. I might dive into analyzing financial variances one moment and then switch gears to coding formulas in the estimating system the next. It truly keeps me on my toes! 😊

What’s something about you that your coworkers might not know?

My coworkers may not be aware that I played softball for fifteen years, including at the collegiate level, which has instilled in me a strong competitive spirit. One of the most valuable lessons I gained from my experience as a competitive athlete is the importance of teamwork. I’ve learned that we can achieve far more when we collaborate effectively. Regardless of our designated roles and responsibilities, if something is needed to advance our goals, I’m always ready to roll up my sleeves and lend a hand to support the team.
