Rose Paving Celebrates Our Women of Asphalt in 2024
March is Women’s History Month – a worldwide celebration to honor women, their contributions, and their accomplishments. Rose Paving is proud to celebrate our very own Women of Asphalt, whose contributions make a positive impact on our business and the paving industry each and every day.
Pam | Manager of Field Operations | Mid-Atlantic Division
Pam joined Rose Paving a little over two months ago, but brings over 20 years of experience to the paving and construction industry. She loves driving past completed projects that she played a part in and seeing the final results for herself.
According to Pam, many are surprised when told she works in the paving industry. “I once had someone ask me ‘who does that’ when they found out I worked in paving.” She also acknowledges the challenges of being a woman working in paving, especially when it comes to earning respect from those with outdated views about women in the field. However, in the next 5-10 years, she hopes to see more females in leadership positions to challenge those views and change the way people think about women in paving.
Alisa | Director of Human Resources | Corporate Division
Alisa is a passionate leader with 15 years of experience in the paving industry, all with Rose Paving! At the beginning of her career, she remembers most women working in administrative roles. Today, she’s proud to see Rose Paving employ women across all areas of the organization, from administrative positions to sales, operations, and management.
Alisa believes that confidence, intelligence, work ethic, and a desire to learn are the strongest qualities that women bring to the paving industry. She loves working in an industry that provides an essential service and enjoys witnessing the company’s growth and meeting new employees nationwide. Alisa is a strong advocate for women in paving, and hopes that other companies in the industry discover that removing any barriers for women only makes for a more successful organization.
Lauren | Project Manager | Mid-Atlantic Division
Lauren is a recent addition to the Rose Paving team and brand-new to the paving and construction industry. Outside of the office, she enjoys cooking, boating, and exploring new places through travel. In her months at Rose Paving, she has come to value the supportive team environment. “I have received an immense amount of support from my coworkers, everyone has been happy to help me in my transition into my new role.”
Ashley | Account Executive | Mid-Atlantic Division
Ashley brings a year of experience in the construction industry to Rose Paving, joining NVM in April 2023 and becoming a part of the Rose Paving team when Rose acquired NVM in January 2024. She thrives on the variety the paving industry offers, as everyday brings something new across her desk. However, what she truly loves about her job the most are the people she works with.
Ashley’s greatest win so far has been exceeding expectations and proving that women can excel in construction thanks to the support of her bosses. Her biggest challenge has been overcoming clients who underestimate her due to her age and gender, and hopes that more women enter the industry in the coming years to change this. Outside of the office, you’ll find her spending time with her pets, trying new adventures, or hanging out with friends and family.
Lisa | Director of Sales | Nashville Division
As the Director of Sales, Lisa excels at building strong relationships with customers and partners in the paving industry. With two years at Rose Paving under her belt, she brings a dedication to customer service, relationship building, and a strong eye for detail – all of the same, strong qualities she sees in other women in the industry.
Lisa loves to witness the success and dedication of the Nashville team, and one of her proudest accomplishments at Rose Paving has been exceeding her team’s goals in 2023. She hopes the industry can overcome the barrier of connecting and recruiting women in college and in other industries, pointing out the potential that can be found in the construction industry. Her biggest piece of advice to women entering pursuing a career in paving is, “stay true to who you are and the strengths you bring to the organization and industry”.
Tanya | Account Executive | Nashville Division
Tanya joined Rose Paving immediately after college and has been making a positive impact in the paving industry ever since. Over the last 3 years, her passion for connecting with people and building relationships with clients continues to grow. She enjoys witnessing the positive change her work brings to their properties, and showing customers that parking lot maintenance isn’t as scary as they might think.
Tanya believes in fostering a supportive and encouraging environment for women in paving, and often finds guidance from her female mentor who has been in the industry for over 20 years. “We women have to stand by each other and encourage each other to be confident and fully engage in our roles so that the industry is confident in its inclusion of women.”
Teri | Marketing Coordinator | Corporate Division
Teri has dedicated the past 19 years to the paving industry, enthusiastically promoting the Rose Paving brand, spearheading marketing efforts, and empowering the sales team with the resources they need to succeed. She also orchestrates internal and external events, and is usually the person behind the scenes that “makes it all happen”. One of her greatest achievements has been automating many internal marketing processes, as well as integrating new offices into the Rose Paving family and brand identity.
Teri’s unwavering drive and eagerness to learn in the ins and outs of the paving industry has propelled her forward in the sector. Today, she gets to share her passion for Rose Paving with the world as a marketer while supporting women colleagues across the organization. “At Rose Paving, gone are the days of women just working behind the desk. Some of the most inspiring women at Rose are running crews, project managing job sites, estimating parking lot repairs, networking, presenting to and educating our audience, and managing sales teams.”
Maria | National Account Manager | National Division
Maria has spent the past five years with Rose Paving, finding her passion in the collaborative spirit and constant learning opportunities. She appreciates the collaborative nature of her job and the shared goal of completing paving projects successfully.
Maria acknowledges the industry’s historical lack of female representation, which she says can be intimidating for newcomers, but is proud that Rose Paving fosters an inclusive, encouraging, and welcoming environment for women in the paving industry. She enjoys stepping into meetings and seeing more women in the room, and hopes to see a future with more women contributing their unique perspectives and skills to the field.
Samantha | Account Executive | Mid-Atlantic Division
Samantha is a newcomer to the paving industry with a passion for innovation, technology adoption, and community development. She is proud of how much she has learned in just a short time in the industry, and still gets excited every time she closes a contract.
Samantha is happy to see more women entering construction across various roles. “I’ve seen over the last few years that more and more women are joining the construction industry as a whole throughout the entire construction community. Whether they are iron workers, pipe liners, formens or pavers.” She hopes to see this trend continue, and for women working in paving to become the norm in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Abby | National Account Manager | National Division
This March marks Abby’s one-year anniversary with Rose Paving! Although this is her first year in the paving industry, she has many family and friends who work in construction, and has always admired the strong work ethic shown by those in the industry. Whether she’s project managing or meeting with customers to walk a job site, Abby appreciates the versatility and many learning opportunities her position gives her.
As a woman in the industry, Abby advocates for increased female leadership. “Our biggest barrier is a lack of women in leadership roles across the board in construction companies.” She believes that shattering stereotypes and achieving equality requires more women in positions of power, inspiring future generations to embrace their individuality within the construction field. Additionally, in the next 5-10 years, Abby hopes to see more women-led construction companies in the industry.
Emily | AP/ Marketing Associate | Corporate Division
Emily has spent over a year with the Rose Paving team and enjoys learning about the construction industry as a whole. One of the best parts about working with the Rose team is working with a close-knit team that is always willing to help and work together to achieve company goals.
As a woman in the industry, Emily loves seeing more diversity in leadership: “I have seen an increase in women leadership at Rose, which is a great step in the right direction. Having powerful women in leadership positions sets the tone for the rest of the company.” She also hopes to see more of this in the coming years: “I hope to see more women in leadership positions and keep taking the steps to make the industry as fair and equal as possible.”
Jean | Accounts Payable | Corporate Division
Jean has worked with Rose Paving for the past 3 years. She loves the people she works with as well as her job as a whole. Working in Accounts Payable, she doesn’t face a ton of hurdles as a woman in the paving industry, but loves seeing more women out in the field and not just behind the desk.
In her time outside of work, she enjoys hiking, fishing, and swimming!
Angela | Assistant Controller | Corporate Division
As a 10-year veteran in the paving industry, Angela loves the diversity of her job: “I love that there is always something new to do. We are constantly evolving and finding new ways to become more efficient and improve our processes. Because of this, there is always a new analysis to develop, a new acquisition to integrate, a new system to learn.”
Angela speaks on the barriers to entering the paving industry: “I think the biggest barrier to women entering and succeeding in the asphalt and paving industry is the lack of industry knowledge. You have to be an advocate for your own growth and seek out the knowledge. I have been lucky to have a great support system at Rose that has taken the time to educate me on the industry so that I can do my job successfully.” She also enjoys the straightforward approach her female co-workers show in their work, striving to do 100%, 100% of the time.
Maria | AP Associate | Corporate Division
Maria has been with the Rose Paving team for over a year and loves seeing the outcomes of the projects she’s a part of. Her favorite part of the job is the ability to connect and communicate with people all over the United States!
As a female in the paving industry, Maria hopes to see more women gain the power to succeed in the industry in the next 5 years. When she’s not working, she’s spending time with her family and going for walks with her fur-babies.
Jaclyn | Account Executive | Southern California Division
With over five years of experience, Jaclyn can attest that people are often surprised when they find out she works in the paving industry, saying, “They don’t realize it is such a large industry and that there is a place for women in it.” To this notion, Jaclyn recognizes that people will make assumptions and apply stereotypes. “It’s important to focus on your work and know you are capable of the job, or else you wouldn’t be there,” she advises.
Jaclyn is most proud of building a solid clientele and her understanding of the industry and what it takes to be successful in her position. She says, “I take a lot of pride in the amount of work I’ve put in to get where I am, and I’m passionate about upholding my personal and professional reputation with Rose Paving.”
Tina | Account Executive | Nashville Division
Tina is no “newbie” in the paving industry—she came to Rose with over 30 years of experience! During that time she has learned, “Nothing is impossible as long as you set your mind to it.” She has also witnessed the industry changing by “hiring more women due to the fact they see women can bring in new perspectives and skill sets that are needed to help with growth.”
Tina’s favorite part of the job? Building customer relationships. She’s clearly great at it, stating her greatest “win” was selling a million-dollar job. In looking towards the future, Tina hopes more women see there’s a spot for them in the paving industry.
Amanda | Account Executive | Chicago Division
With over 12 years of experience in the construction industry, Amanda loves the fast-paced, always-changing dynamic of construction. She entered the asphalt paving industry partly because her father was in the construction industry for over 30 years, and she wanted to be around the great people in the industry.
Amanda says one of her favorite parts of the job is: “Working hand and hand with operations, team foreman and superintendents to make sure projects run smoothly, then seeing the immediate results of your teamwork”. Joining the Rose Paving team has made the time at work rewarding as well. Amanda says she chose Rose Paving because of the leadership team and culture. “I stand behind their loyalty to their employees. They have a board that listens and is open to new ideas. These days that is very rare to find!”
